EVENT DETAILS

We invite you to join us on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017 for our first annual Myla’s Wish 5K to celebrate the life of Myla Viss a sweet, joyful baby girl born premature at 24 weeks. Myla was in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) at Kaiser Roseville and UC San Francisco for 412 days until she grew her wings on September 23, 2013. Myla’s parents, Mark and Laura Viss lived and worked in the Ripon/Modesto area and stayed in a RV parked at Kaiser Roseville for over a year while Myla received care in the NICU. They know first-hand how emotionally and financially draining an extended stay in the NICU has on families and would like to help others going through a similar journey.

This event with benefit the Aly & Izy Foundation a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, whose mission provides support to families of premature or critically ill infants requiring treatment in the NICU at local hospitals in Northern California. One such method of support is the RVs 4 Preemies Program, which is a unique service that allows families to stay in a fully- equipped recreational vehicle on hospital grounds while their infant receives necessary care in the NICU. The Foundation currently owns one RV, which is stocked with food, personal care supplies, linens, bedding, toys and activities for older children. Our goal is to continue this program and expand to accommodate other hospitals with this much-needed service. We also offer other services to families, including providing care packages, gas cards hotel stays, restaurant gift cards, memory boxes and emotional support to the families during their time of need.
